Amber Henry
Co-Captain
Amber is in her fourth year of Civil Engineering, and third year on the team. She was a Concrete Lead last year and will be one of the Captains this year! Following the team’s impressive 4th place finish in Montréal last year, she is determined to lead the team to the top of the podium!


Peter Kolodziej
Co-Captain
Peter is in his sixth year of Mechanical Engineering and has been a dedicated member of UMGNCTR since 2021. With several years of design and leadership experience, he is excited to lead the team once again, focusing on innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence. This year, his goal is to race competitively and bring home a victory.
Jonny Druxman
Technical Exhibition Co-Lead
Hi, my name is Jonny Druxman, and I’m currently in my final year of Mechanical Engineering. I’ve been a part of the UMGNCTR team for the past four years, and this year, I’m excited to take on the role of Technical Exhibition Co-Lead for the first time. Over the past few summers, I’ve gained valuable experience working in the HVAC industry, which has sparked a strong interest in engineering and technical sales. I’m passionate about applying both my technical background and interpersonal skills to real-world challenges. With a strong work ethic and a drive for excellence, I’m ready to lead the Tech Ex team to success.


Ethan Craig
Technical Exhibition Co-Lead
Ethan is in his third year of Electrical Engineering and has been a member of the concrete toboggan team since 2023. He is interested in system controls for HVAC systems. This is his first year as a Technical Exhibition Co-Lead and hopes to take first place in the Tech-Ex section following a close second place in last year’s competition.
Matthew Kaul
Concrete Co-Lead
Matthew is in his 5th year of civil engineering and this is his second year on the team and first as a concrete lead. His goal this year is to refine the ski geometry and try to find an alternative reinforcement for the skis.


Dexter Fjeldsted
Concrete Co-Lead
Dexter is fourth year civil engineering student and a three year member of the team. He enjoys working in the heavy structures lab and getting hands on experience making and testing concrete. This is his first year as concrete co-lead and he is very eager to innovate new forms of concrete reinforcement and lead his team to success in this up coming competition in London Ontario
Umindu Jayabandu
Superstructure Co-Lead
Hi, I’m Umindu. I am a 4th year mechanical engineering student who has been on the team for 4 years and has been actively participating in designing the steering systems. Hope to bring my work experience from different industries like bio-medical, HVAC and research and development of products to GNCTR improving the designs and coming up with creative ideas.This year being a co-lead for superstructure, my goal is to turn the creativity knob of the team to 11 and bring some innovative designs to GNCTR, which includes “all ski slide” and improving aerodynamics. In my free time I enjoy working on motorcycles, cars and is currently building a hometeater system in my basement with surround sounds to enjoy art. Love watching movies!!!


Erin Oullette
Superstructure Co-Lead
Erin is in her 4th year of mechanical engineering. Her technical interests are related to the fields of mechanical systems and HVAC system design. This is her third year on the team and first year as an executive. This year, Erin is excited to work with other Superstructure members to develop a new and improved braking system and to explore new ways to incorporate sustainability into the superstructure design.
Yeab Ayalew
Finance Lead
Yeab is in his final year of Computer Engineering, and Second year on the team. He was a on the finance section last year but has then taken over the reigns! With a range of experience as a research student and software developer at various companies, Yeab has built strong relationships within the engineering industry. Yeab hopes to provide the team with all the resources needed to design the best possible toboggan and ensure as many members as possible can attend competition this year!


Taylor Townsend
Spirit Co-Lead
Taylor is in her fifth year as a Civil Engineering student and has been a member of GNCTR as a spirit lead since 2022. In addition to her love for GNCTR, she was also heavily involved in other student clubs such as student government and the concrete canoe team. She has spent her work terms at AECOM and PCL working in project management and field coordination roles. While she is excited to use her creativity and project management skills to contribute to the success of the team, she is most excited to have fun with her team building the toboggan and racing at competition!
Sydney Haasbeek
Spirit Co-Lead
Sydney is in her third year of Civil Engineering, second year on the team and first year as Spirit Co-Captain. She is involved in other student groups such as the sports directorship on the engineering student council. She is excited to help her team build the toboggan and to bring the spirit to the upcoming competition in London, Ontario!
