“The Manitoba Chapter of the American Concrete Institute was formed in the late 1980’s. The Chapter is a not-for-profit organization which is dedicated to disseminating knowledge, technical information, and best practices of concrete supply and placement.

Since its inception, the Chapter has been very active with dinner presentations held monthly between September and June featuring knowledgeable speakers on topics of interest. A Spring Seminar is held annually featuring technical topics in more depth. Attendance at these events averages 50 registrants, with some topics attracting well over 100 attendees.

The Chapter is also involved in ongoing ACI Certification programs for Concrete Testing Technicians, Concrete Construction Inspectors and Flatwork Finishers.”

“Founded in 1978, Sperling Industries Ltd. began as a small welding shop in Sperling, Manitoba, Canada, which is about thirty miles (50km) southwest of Winnipeg. Three brothers, Russell, Jeff and David Nicolajsen had been working in construction for many years and decided to start their own company to focus more on the local market.

It was named Sperling Welding, and they began by working locally doing smaller welding and structural projects for farmers and businesses. Operating out of one machine shop, it was a humble beginning to their many years in this industry. ”
